Lloyd's Furs opens
Bill Lloyd starts Lloyd's Furs in Denver — a name that will, decades later, quietly become part of ours.
Three generations, one address — a Cherry Creek family of furriers.
Marks Furs began in a bedroom closet in October of 1987, with neighbors as the first customers. Thirty-seven years later, the shop sits in the same Cherry Creek North block — same family, same warmth, same handshake on the way out the door.

"The fitting room is the closest a shop ever gets to a living room."
Educators, married in 1971.
A New Yorker and a Chicagoan. Richard began in retail in 1974, then in fur in 1975 — selling came naturally, and so did the numbers. Kim brought the marketing eye and the creative vision; her dream of a boutique of her own waited patiently.
In October of 1987, that dream became Marks Furs, opened from their bedroom closet with the first pieces sold to neighbors and friends. The following November, the shop moved to Cherry Creek North — and never left.

Half a century of small choices made carefully.
Drag right to read forward in time. Every entry, a fitting, a trip, a name added to the racks.

Richard and Kim, best friends since 1970, start Marks Furs from their bedroom closet, selling to neighbors and friends. By November, they're at Beau Monde Mall.
The shop moves to Cherry Creek North — the address it still keeps today, nearly four decades later.
The acquisition of the fur division of Jonas Brothers Furs deepens the family's roots in Denver.
Lloyd's Furs joins the family, creating the largest fur service business in the West. Charitable giving begins — Families First, Opera Colorado, Cancer League, Girls Inc.
Designer brands begin to fill the racks. Michael Kors joins shortly thereafter.
The first of many business trips to Milan. Sheared, super-sheared, and laser-cut mink begin to shape a more modern, more wearable fur.
Marks-Lloyd's becomes ML Furs online, and the in-house brand EM-EL is created, selling nationally for the first time.
The first international sale ships from Cherry Creek. The following year, online sales quadruple — and luxury skiwear joins the family.

Coats that travel, and a family that doesn't.
Every fur in the shop has come through the same hands. Selected in Milan, refined in our atelier, fitted in our Cherry Creek fitting rooms. The address has been the same for nearly four decades — and the family at the door has, too.
Pieces here are built for restyling, relining, and refitting. A coat bought for a wedding will, with luck, be worn by a daughter to her own. We design for that day.
Why families come back — and bring their daughters.
The same family on the floor, in the fitting room, and on the phone. Always has been.
Cherry Creek North since 1988. A place you can return to — and find still standing.
Pieces meant to be worn for decades, restyled for daughters, passed on with stories.

Come by for tea.
The boutique sits where it has since 1988 — the same block, the same fitting rooms, the same faces. Tea is on. The door is open. Bring your mother. Bring your daughter.
