Since its inception in 1960, Head Sportswear has meticulously crafted a legacy of cutting-edge design, unparalleled engineering excellence, and an unwavering dedication to championing sports across the globe.
In 1939, Howard Head started as a riveter at Glenn L. Martin Company, later becoming an engineer. During his time there, he discovered skiing in Stowe, Vermont, which ignited a passion. Unhappy with traditional skis, he applied aircraft manufacturing techniques, creating a lighter and more efficient "honeycomb" ski in 1947, inspired by wartime technology.
In 1950, Howard Head founded the HEAD Ski Company, facing initial market resistance for his costly Standard. However, by 1955, HEAD became the top ski brand in the U.S. and Europe. It took time, but Olympic wins in the 1960s cemented composite skis' dominance with HEAD's patented metal ski technology.
In 1968, HEAD introduced its tennis division and unveiled the first metal tennis racket at the U.S. Open in 1969. Howard Head later retired, revolutionizing a second sport with the first oversized metal racket.

The introduction of hourglass-shaped skis, finely honed for exquisite precision in navigating sharp turns, was met with enthusiastic adoption in the market, where discerning skiers recognized their remarkable performance-enhancing design.
Pioneering a legacy in alpine sports, Head athletes have consistently secured the number one position for 12 consecutive seasons on the slopes. Their equipment is synonymous with triumph in Alpine Ski racing and the Winter Olympics.
In the world of sports, Head Sportswear's journey from innovation to dominance is an inspiring reflection to relentless pursuit of excellence.
